Born in Crimea. Since 1931 he lived in Feodosia. In 1940 he entered the art studio of N.S. Barsamov at the Feodosiya Art Gallery. In 1949-1952 he studied at the Crimean Art School. Since 1950 he has participated in exhibitions. Since 1960 – member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The artist's works are in the Simferopol Art Museum, the Feodosiya Art Gallery, in private collections in Turkey, France, the USA. Publications: "Vladimir Sokolov". Simferopol, 1997
