Sokolov Sergey Nikolaevich (1885-1970)- painter, teacher. In the 1900s he studied at the studio of painting and drawing, founded by the artist K. F. Yuon. In 1917 he took lessons from Huon. At about the same time, he studied with the famous painter K. A. Korovin at the GSHM, whose advice largely predetermined Sokolov's future as an artist. After that, he became a decorator in the Political Department of the V Army. In 1932 he entered the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1936. He was engaged in teaching. Among his students are such masters as A. Zverev, Yu. Zhigalov, A. Latovkin, B. Nevzorov, V. Kazarin, K. Timakov.
