He was born on March 24, 1929 (according to his passport, March 24, 1930) in the village of Oboloni (now the Kremenchug district of the Poltava region, Ukraine). During 1946-1951 he studied at the Kiev Art Secondary School (teachers Evgeny Volobuyev, Elena Yablonskaya); during 1951-1957 - at the Kiev Art Institute (teachers Vasily Kasian, Sergey Yerzhikovsky, Alexander Sirotenko, Sergey Podervyansky). He has been a member of the CPSU since 1961. During 1964-1994, he taught at the Kiev Art Institute: since 1976, he has been a professor. At the same time, since 1979, he headed the educational and creative workshops of poster art at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. He was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR.
