Konstantin Alexandrovich Prokhorov was born on December 20, 1924 in the village of Karavaevo, Russia. He studied at the Palekh Art College and at the N. Samokish Simferopol Art College. Since 1948, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. For several years he has been working as a teacher at the Simferopol Art College, an employee of the Regional Art Gallery. He is a correspondence graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Repin. Since 1951, he has participated in national and All-Union exhibitions. Personal exhibitions were held in Simferopol and Kiev. From 1955 to 1958, he headed the Crimean regional branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1955, during an exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery, two of his works, Blooming Almonds and Artek Bay, were liked and presented to Indira Gandhi and her father Jawaharlal Nehru. Since 1960, he has been an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1974, the artist and his family moved from Crimea to the Moscow region and settled near the city of Dmitrov. Since 2011, he has been a National Artist of the Russian Federation. The artist's works are in many museums and private collections in Russia and abroad – in France, Germany, the USA, Japan, India, Canada, etc. Main works: "Heroes on Vacation" (1949); "Summer in Artek" (1955); "Golden Age" (1960); "On the Bridge" (1961); "On the construction of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant" (1963); "Evening. In my Spare Moment" (1964); "Evening on the Raid" (1965) and others.
