Francis Pieter Peters (1818-1903) was a famous German landscape painter, graphic artist and art dealer of Dutch origin. He was born in the family of a well-known glass artist, under whose guidance he received his first painting lessons.
After moving to Stuttgart and meeting King Wilhelm I of Würtenberg, the artist became a friend and companion of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanova.
In his early canvases and works of mature creativity, he adhered to the traditions of classical Dutch Romanticism, in his later works the influence of impressionism is noticeable.
From 1986 to 1903, the artist and his family spent the summer on a planer in the Kengen Castle, XIII century in Essling.
The artist's two daughters, Anna and Pietronella, also became artists.
The artist's works are represented in many art museum collections, as well as sold at famous auctions around the world.
