Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar (1871-1960) was a Russian and Soviet painter, restorer, art critic, art theorist, educator, museum worker, teacher, professor. Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1947). Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1943). People's Artist of the USSR (1956). Winner of the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1941).

His work is a vivid phenomenon, which many art historians turn to the study of, as a characteristic example of late impressionism. The picturesque texture of his works is a complex multi-layered technique that has absorbed all the richness of the palette. Grabar's impressionism was more connected with the realistic tradition than with artistic experiments of new styles and perception of French contemporary art. Grabar's most famous painting "February Azure" is a manifestation of the best features of Russian art. His other landscapes also rapidly develop this theme and perfectly convey the light and air environment of a sunny day - "Corner of the manor", "Ray of the Sun"," Spring Stream"," Winter morning","Frost".

In still lifes and portraits, I. E. Grabar solves the same full-scale tasks, achieves expressiveness of the texture - "An Untidy table", "Delphiniums"," Pears on a blue tablecloth","Red apples". The artist's experiments with the connection of genres are interesting. He paints a still life in the interior, or against the background of a landscape, achieving extraordinary decorative and emotional saturation.
