Golovkov Gerasim Semenovich was born on March 16, 1863 in Odessa in a poor middle-class family.
From 1881 to 1883 he studied at the Odessa Drawing School (ORSH). From 1883 to 1889, he was a free listener at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, studied with M.K. Klodt. Due to lack of funds, he did not graduate from the Academy. In 1896, he received a certificate for the right to teach drawing in secondary schools. Since 1890 he lived in Odessa. Participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (MOLH), the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (TPHV) since 1888. In the 1990s, Golovkov's works were exhibited at exhibitions in Paris, Berlin and Munich (in 1909).
