Nikolai Petrovich Glushchenko (1901-1977) was a painter and graphic artist, a public figure. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1946). People's Artist of the USSR (1963) and the USSR (1976). State Prize of Ukraine named after T. Shevchenko (1972). Member of the SHU (1944). In 1919, he was mobilized into the army of A. Denikin. He fled from Poland to Germany. He graduated from the Berlin Higher School of Fine Arts in Charlottenburg (1924). Until July 1936 he was abroad: 1918-25 - in Berlin, 1925-36 - in Paris, where he opened his own studio and was a famous artist. I talked with V. Vinnichenko, I. Trush. He worked in the field of easel painting, mainly in the genres of landscape, still life, portrait. Participant of mystical exhibitions since 1924. Personal (bl. 50) – in Paris (1926, 1928), Bucharest (1930), Prague (1931), Lviv (1935), Moscow (1943, 1986), Kiev (1949, 1958, 1976, 2001), Brussels (1969). The early works are executed in a traditional realistic manner, in later works the influence of the French post-impressionist school of painting is felt.  Also known as rad. scout "Yarema". In April 1940 he went to Germany for the exhibition "National Creativity of the USSR", received as a gift from A. Hitler an album with his own watercolors and a certificate of honor from the Minister of Foreign Affairs I. Ribbentrop. 5 months earlier, R. Sorge informed I. Stalin about Germany's preparations for war against the USSR. After the 2nd World War, he lived in Kiev, where the artist's workshop-museum was opened in 1978. The works are kept in museums in Ukraine, France, USA, Canada, Italy.
