Rostislav Ivanovich Felitsin (1820-1882) was a famous Russian artist, academician of painting. Rostislav Ivanovich Felitsin came from the Moscow burghers. He was a student of the Moscow Art Class. For his success in mastering drawing and painting, he received the title of a non-class artist from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1842. In 1843, Rostislav Ivanovich became a student of the Imperial Academy of Arts. During his studies at the Academy, he was awarded two silver medals. He painted touching pictures from folk life, where the main characters were Russian women with a difficult fate. In 1857, Rostislav Ivanovich Felitsin was awarded the title of Academician of painting folk scenes for his paintings "On the Porch of the hut" and "Reading a Letter". In addition to genre, Felitsin also painted portraits. All Felitsin's works are filled with love and special responsiveness to the depicted characters.By nature, Rostislav Ivanovich was a gentle and responsive person to someone else's pain. Rostislav Ivanovich Felitsin died on October 15, 1882 in St. Petersburg, where he was buried. The State Russian Museum has three remarkable works by R.I. Felitsin: "The Widow ("Killed")" (1852), "Village Girls (On the porch of the hut)" (1855), "Sad News (Reading a letter)" (1856).
