Bulgakov Boris 1893-1963 .The artist was born in Kiev. His father, Pyotr Sergeevich, was a coasting navigator, his mother was Anastasia Viktorovna Bulgakova, nee Grigorovich; there were also two daughters in the family — Elizabeth and Antonina. In August 1902, Borya Bulgakov enrolled in the Third Kiev Gymnasium, the full course of which he graduated in July 1913. In August of the same year, Boris entered the Kiev Imperial University of St. Vladimir, first to the medical faculty, where he studied for about a year, and later — to the historical and philological faculty. The first pictorial experiments date back to this time.In August 1916, twenty-three-year-old Boris Bulgakov went to the front as a volunteer.
In the battles he proved himself as an impeccable officer and a brave warrior, for his participation in military operations he was awarded several orders, along with which he received personal nobility, and then two St. George crosses (officers were awarded them only for exceptional courage shown in battles).
