Valentina Petrovna Tsvetkova (1917-2007) was born in Astrakhan, in the family of a priest. I've been drawing since I was a child. Here, in 1935, she graduated from the art school under the guidance of Academician of painting Pavel Vlasov. In 1937, the young artist first came to the southern coast of the Crimea, to Yalta. The amazing nature and special Crimean climate conquered it from the first days. When she returned here again, on the eve of the war, she stayed there for the rest of her life. Just as the south of France influenced Cezanne and Van Gogh, Tahiti influenced Gauguin, so the hot Crimea determined the content and pictorial and stylistic features of Tsvetkova's art. She is called one of the best masters of Still Life in Ukraine. Her still life is special: the artist always painted flowers or generous gifts of the land against the background of the Crimean landscape. In search of a generalized image of the Crimea, she sought to concentrate everything that is dear to her in the nature of the southern coast in one picture: combining still life and landscape into a single harmonious composition, where everything is permeated with clean air and filled with sunny warmth. In the 1950s and 1960s, she took an active part in regional and national exhibitions. Special fans of her work were Andre Mauroy and Nikolai Glushchenko.
